Australian Government and NASA laser to Destroy Asteroids and Space Debris

“Everywhere humans have been in space, we leave some trash behind. We now want to clean up space to avoid the growing risks of collisions and to make sure we don't have the kind of event portrayed in 'Gravity.'”

Director of the Australian National University Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Mount Stromlo Matthew Colless commenting on the Australian Government plan to use Lasers to remove Space Debris

Removing Space Debris may end up being the ultimate dream job in the future. Interestingly too, NASA may not necessarily require a “Dumpa Truck” to be sent into space to collect the garbage we’ve left behind as I’d predicted in my blog article entitled “Private Space Enterprise and Space Junk - Dumpa Truck”.

You’re main Qualifications for such a job?

You’d have to be good at games like Star Defender 4 or even Star Wars Starfighter as plans are afoot to basically shoot down the debris with Lasers as explained in “Pew pew! Scientists hatch plan to Laser-blast space junk”, published March 10, 2014 2:10 PM PDT by Amanda Kooser, CNET News and “Take that, space junk! Australian scientists to zap debris with Lasers”, published Monday 10 March 2014 03.36 GMT, The UK Guardian.

That is, if the US$90 million initiative as describe in “Lasers to clean up space junk”, published March 7th 2014, Australian National University gets off the ground. The members of the CRC are as listed below:

1.      The Australian Government
2.      NASA's Ames Research Center
3.      Lockheed Martin
4.      Optus
5.      EOS Space System Australia

Probably might have some connection to NASA (National Aeronautical and Space Administration) launching their US$35000 Asteroid Data Hunter series starting on Monday March 17th 3014 to recruit amateur astronomers to spot Asteroids before they kill us all as noted in “NASA asks citizen scientists to become 'Asteroid hunters'”, published March 10, 2014 3:33 PM PDT by Dara Kerr, CNET News and “NASA offers $35,000 to ‘citizen scientist’ asteroid hunters”, published March 11, 2014 By Trevor Mogg, DigitalTrends

Not sure what NASA plans to do, but I hope it’s something to do with Directed Energy Weapons. If so, then it would be best to include Boeing. Boeing has already been testing of their Boeing HEL MD 10 KW Laser as explained in my blog article entitled “Boeing HEL MD 10 KW Laser successfully Tested shooting down Mortar Rounds and Drones - Portability and stability under Fire are Burning Issues for this Star Wars Future Weapon”.

Global Initiative needed to clean Space Junk – Telecom Providers need to get involved

A forever optimist, I’m suspecting that this initiative needs to be a global initiative and include Weapons Systems Contractors and the Designers of Satellites, possibly the Telecom Providers themselves. These as they are indirectly responsible for leaving the Space Junk up there in the first place as many of those satellites belong to them!

Drawing a parallel with the GOJ (Government of Jamaica) JA$200 million Recycle Now Jamaica Project to clean up the PETE (Polyethylene Terephthalate) Bottles that are littering our drains and gullies as explained in my blog article entitled “GOJ launches JA$200 million Recycle Now Jamaica Project to Recycle PETE Plastic Waste - JEEP finally get self-sustaining Engine in small Step towards Telecom Providers Recycling Electronic Waste”, it nice to see the Developing World Cleaning up their Waste for a change.

Recycle Now Jamaica Project not only includes the Government of Jamaica but also the very same companies, dubbed The Plastic 7, that produced the PETE (Polyethylene Terephthalate) Bottles that are littering our drains and gullies. Thus it’s nice to see the Developed World Countries copying an initiative, even if in spirit, that’s taking Shape in the Developing World.

I just wish it was a little more International and involved those responsible for designing, launching and using those very same Telecommunications Satellites, including the Telecom Providers, the NSA (National Security Agency) and the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency).

In the meantime, I’m practicing on beating my high scores in Star Defender 4 or even Star Wars Starfighter to shoot down Asteroids or Space Debris Non-Stop (2014) .

Here’s the link to my favourite video Games to start practicing to do the same:
